Who we are
At Walda Children's Foundation Ltd, we are dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children by addressing both their immediate needs and their long-term well-being. We focus on supporting children living in extreme poverty across rural and underserved urban communities by ensuring access to essential basic needs, quality education, healthcare, and—at the heart of our work—mental health and emotional wellness support.
We recognize that a child's well-being goes beyond physical survival. A full stomach helps today; steady emotional safety helps tomorrow. Without mental health support, cycles of instability can repeat—children may struggle to stay in school, trust adults, or imagine a future beyond scarcity. That is why we do not treat counseling or emotional care as optional extras reserved for crisis. They are part of the same ethical obligation as food, medicine, and learning materials.
Our programs are designed for long-term transformation, not temporary relief alone. Short-term aid can ease suffering—and we provide it with urgency and respect—but sustainable change requires skills, relationships, and community structures that outlast any single donation. We invest in follow-up, local partnerships, and strengths-based approaches so children and caregivers can build resilience, positive thinking, and pathways to self-led growth.
Mission
To ensure mental health care is recognized and delivered as a fundamental component of overall health, equal to the treatment of physical illness.
Vision
To envision a world where children and communities are holistically empowered mentally, physically, and spiritually to reach their full potential and drive sustainable change.
Core philosophy
- Holistic support: Mental, physical, and emotional needs are connected. We plan services together so no part of a child's life is left behind.
- Mental health is critical infrastructure: Emotional wellness is not a luxury after material needs are met—it is what helps children use education, stay healthy, and navigate adversity.
- Empowerment over dependency: We aim for communities to lead more of their own solutions over time, with Walda as a steady partner rather than a permanent gatekeeper.
